Given that we can all agree that war criminals and people who commit crimes against humanity are not desrirable folks, why have so few been able to see this trait in Obama? This is something that has been obvious from his campaigns, both primary and presidential- as Chomsky said, if the Nuremberg Laws that were applied in 1946 to try the Nazis were applied to post war American presidents, every one would be hanged for war crimes. This has been so true of Obama's pronouncements, and his current actions.

Not wishing to toot my own horn, but I published this the day after the US elections, and I think its precepts are showing themselves to be truer by the day.

Well all US-presidents are bound to be war-criminals to some degree, because everything that happens during their tenure is actually their responsability and the US has a lot going on. Not being a war criminal would actually require actively stopping warcrimes being executed or proscecuting warcrimes that have been executed. In that respect, choosing to condone torture and just making it into a matter of policy, makes Obama an accomplice to warcrimes. I'm sure there is a lot more like thatgoing on in the administration that we are not aware of. So yes, Obama is an accomplice to war-crimes, but: What else is new?.

I think Stephen Colbert said:"if Obama doesn't close guantanamo, he owns it", in the same way you could argue : "if he doesn't crack down on torture, he owns it". Or to finish with an even more appropriate quote: 'All it takes for evil to prevail is for all the good men to do nothing"
