Read this verse:

Deuternomoy 22:28-29
If a man finds a young woman who is a virgin, who is not betrothed, and he seizes her and lies with her, and they are found out, 29 then the man who lay with her shall give to the young woman’s father fifty shekels of silver, and she shall be his wife because he has humbled her; he shall not be permitted to divorce her all his days.

If a man and a woman, who is not betrothed (engaged) or married, have sex, no problem. But they have to get married and divorce is no longer allowed.
So is pre-marital sex wrong? No, as long as the couple gets married.

Read another verse:

I Corinthians 7:2
Nevertheless, because of sexual immorality, let each man have his own wife, and let each woman have her own husband.

This seems to be consistent with Deuteronomy 22.

Marriage is not about the wedding ceremony.
Matthew 19:5
And said, For this cause shall a man leave father and mother, and shall cleave to his wife: and they twain shall be one flesh?

Pre-marital sex is not wrong as long as there is marriage. It is not sysnonymous with fornication, I'm really sorry for the conservatives (as they call themselves). Please look up the greek root word "pornea" plus the historical background. The current Christian notion that pre-marital sex as fornication is questionable going to almost unbiblical.

QUOTE: "Pre-marital sex is not wrong as long as there is marriage"

Rubbish! Why should people be restricted to just one sexual partner in a lifetime? If someone is in a relationship whether they intend to get married or not they should be allowed to have sex. What two consenting adults do in private should be their own affair and no one elses.

You cannot follow everything in the Bible to the letter or else we would still be burning witches due to the statement "Do not allow a sourcerer to live".

You cannot believe everything single thing that is written in the Bible and take it as 100 per cent truth. The Bible was written by men and inspired by God. For example in the Bible it not only condemns adultary but also condemns someone who gets divorced and then remarries as an adulterer.

I think it is high time that the church moderated its position on sex, instead of taking such an extreme view that people are only allowed one sexual partner per lifetime unless one partner dies.

Wow! You really are pro- free sex without commitment for everybody, don't you?

Well, don't worry about burning witches. Jesus Christ changed the old testament rules to "love your enemies, if a man is angry with his neighbor, etc." so there would be no killing spree even if the bible is followed by the letter.

We're just trying to know what the bible would say. Well, that's just it - Apostle Paul sealed the casket. To prevent sexual immorality, he said, let everyman have a wife and a woman a husband. Put the logic backwards, anything outside husband and wife is considered sexual immorality so he ask that.

Adults consented on having sex? Ok, that's their choice.

Whether it's a sin or not? That's another question.
