True equality is completely colorblind. How can something as discriminatory as affirmative action be supporting equality? If you ask me, it's only contributing to issues of inequality like sexism and racism. If people are being allowed into colleges simply because of their race then what is to be said of our so-called democratic principle that all men are equal? What real value does race have? The answer is none. Diversity can be a good thing but not if it must be planned out. I say let merit be rewarded and not race.  Affirmative action can only hurt a democratic country, not help it.

True equality is colorblind. unfortuantely this country is not colorblind. Just lookat Texaco and NJ Stae police Chief. Both show how Americans are still racists. Affirmative Consideration helps to counteract those problems. Affirmative Consideration does not allow someone in just because of race. Affirmative Consideration compensates minorities for the disadvantages caused by racism of the past. Democracy has been helped by diversity. How many people stood up for minorites rights when Congress was all white and the Supreme Court was all white? How much were we accepted al equal when before desegregation? Diversity has alot to offer and if you read the Amicus briefs filed by the majority of Universities in the country like Harvard, Yale,  Standford, and the Association of University Presidents. It's alright if you think that diversity ahs no benefit but more intelligent people disagree with you.
