Has anyone ever noticed how whenever you say the word racist people automatically think  of a white person? Well we're not the only ones. Now i'm not all "white power" cuz those people are just stupid, but there are alot of associations for minorities but none for whites. See, there's BET, NAACP, and the United Negro College Fund. Now if WE had an association for the advancement of white people, white entertainment television or a white college fund, we would be called racist. But wait, i don't get it...does that mean that only whites can be racist??? I don't think so.

no, anybody can be racist.  there are lots of racists of every color.  its just that for a large period of world history, white racism against blacks and other races was a huge problem.  so when someone says racism, its only natural that people think of whites.

alright so lets just sum some of this up.. there is undeniably racism on many levels in America, but it is no where near the level it used to be, nor is it something that needs to be immediately attended to.  It will always exist.  Heres a form of racism we can fix.. affirmative action.  It is bullshit to think that anyone should get any special privilege just because their ancestors suffered significantly from racism.  Everyone deals with it, just grow up and move on from the past..

Most of the racism in America now is with the individual, and is not stopping a minority from living, working, or traveling. And in the situation where I am not hired because of my race, do I really want to work there?

well first you have to differentiate between weak and strong affirmative action.

weak affirmative action basically says don't take race/gender etc into account for hiring/school admissions etc whereas strong affirmative action actually says to use reverse discrimination and give preference to minorities/women etc.

now i have nothing against weak affirmative action. it simply promotes equality which is something much need in this country and even the world.

strong affirmative action is what i have a problem with. i think most people would agree with me on this.

the main problem with debates such as this one:

http://www.youdebate.com/DEBATES/AFFIRMATIVEACTION.HTM

is that the terms are not defined.

for example the "PROS" all refer to weak affirmative action while the cons all refer to strong affirmative action
