Quote from EMyers at 3:49 PM on January 6, 2006 :
1 The Bible does talk about cars.  It says the were all in one Accord.  (ok, couldn't resist)

2 Some idiot posted about working on Sunday.  Since when is Sunday the seventh day of the week?

3 If we wish to stick to the new covenanant, then its pretty simple to still come up with homosexuality as being sinful.

  A   I Cor. 6:9-10

Mistranslations.
Malakoi translates literally to mean soft. In reference to a person, it may mean morally soft.
Arsenokoitai - male-active-bed - one could make an argument that this refers to the active partner in a male homosexual relationship, however such thinking is flawed. Malakoi hardly can be used as referring to the passive partner, and so it would only refer to one and also it has no agent. Had Paul intended this to indicate homosexuals, he could have easily added a male agent to the word as demonstrated in arsenogamew (to marry a man).

B   Rom. 1:26-32

Again we are the unfortunate victims of mistranslation. Paraphysin does not mean 'against the law of nature' but implies an action uncharacteristic of a person. The people spoke of hear were heterosexuals, abandoning their normal tendencies.

C   Mat. 19:4-5 (and other gospel ref.)

This speaks of marriage and divorce. It is intended to show that once married, once two have become one, they are not to be separated.

  D   ! Tim. 1:9-10

See arsenokoitai above.

My big agitation with so many Christians, is the picking and choosing of which parts of the Bible to believe/obey. It's all or nothing, or start your own religion, make your own rules to live by. Or yet pick one of the multitude of religions out there that may better match your belief system. As far as the Bible quoting that goes on, keep in mind that- a text out of context is a pretext. When you quote out of context you are in effect misquoting. For you religious zealots misquoting the Bible is in effect misquoting God, Jesus, or one of the disciples. Not too bright. I always thought (according to the Christian religion)that God created man, and God doesn't make mistakes.
That being accepted, he made 10+% LBGT.
His choice, not ours. Is this possibly a lesson in tolerance for some of you?

Only if you believe sexual orientation (pedophelia, necrophelia, bestiality, etc...) is genetically incoded and not the choice of the person making the decision...

P.S.  I love it when people who can't tolerate YOUR opinion preach toleration for THEIR opinion.

I'm afraid none of those are analogous to homosexuality.

I'm sorry you are afraid.  However that does not change the fact that they are "orientations".

How would you class heterosexuality and homosexuality?

They're sexualities, yes.

While the likes of necrophilia, pedophilia, bestiality, etc. are more secondary forms of sexual preference or orientation.

I thought I said they were orientations in the first place.  I'm so confused.  What point, exactly, are you people arguing?
