Has the gay community wallowed in its self-pity and victimization? Tell us what you think....

Let me respond with a few questions:

Who is in the gay community?
How is your observation of the behavior of the gay community as a whole objective?

Let's be honest here...

I don't think gay community is asking for victimization. They are just asking for their rights, to live like any other person.

Personally, I do think that, quite a few gays wallow in self-pity.  To think that equality means people don't pick on you for it and crying when someone calls you a name is wallowing in self-pity.  Is it right for people to be so aggressive and mean?  Absolutely not.  But the reality is that everyone makes fun of everyone else for something.  Why do we need to treat the gay community as if they are a special needs group?  If you want to be treated equally, then deal with the realities of the paths you choose to take.

I don't think on the whole the gay community wallow in self pity.  What you have to bear in mind is that despite being gay is something they all have in common...its the only thing they ALL have in common.  Therefore you will get self pitying gays and non self pitying gays.  Its down to who that person is, not what sexuality they are.  They would be that way if they were straight too. So no the gay community is not wallowing in self pity.

I don't think the gay community is wallowing in self pity.  I think they and alongside others may HAVE (not wallow in) pity for the gay POPULATION...  I'm sure their are individual homosexuals who wallow in self pity, but it's really not possible for a community to do as a whole.

When the African American people were fighting for their rights were they wallowing in self pity?  If all they were doing was "wallowing", then nothing ever would have been changed.  Things obviously are changing in regards to The U.S. View on homosexuality.

I would say the gay community is playing a "target."  Victims are helpless and no longer fighting back.
