Look at wild animals (wild animals, not tame).  None of them are gay.  That's because they have instincts, which is the natural version of common sense.  They know that having gay sex won't save their species.  I've heard the argument "Animals have sex for fun, and therefore, they can be attracted to others of their own sex."  While it is a cute theroy, it is wrong, because the only two species on the face of God's green Earth that have sex for pleasure are Dolphins and (you guessed it!) humans.  If every human on Earth were gay, then we would have no desire to reproduce, and the human race would be doomed.

Well, this is interesting, however your logic is mutable.

Instinct and common sense are not interchangable, nor are they related.  You have instincts.  You have a desire for sex, food, shelter, water...  You have the ability, in distress, to lift boulders and cars, to out run a firestorm.  That is instinct.  "Common Sense" is the human minds ability to over-rationalize.  We use local observation for global explanation.  Therefore, they are indeed, not the same thing.

Well, moving on.  Your title about morality, has nothing to do with your argument about the effectivity of gay reproduction.  I do agree that homosexual sex can in no way result in pregnancy, I hope.  But you confuse human and lesser species reproduction.  Our desire to reproduce is not sexual in nature, rather it is maternal or paternal.  Lesbians have children, using donor sperm.  Gay men have children, using surrogate mothers.

Furthermore, if you look in the abortion posts, I shall use the same logic here.  If you don't like gay marriage.  Don't marry gay.

You are completly wrong. Apes, Dogs, Bison, Cats, and Sheep all show homosexual behavor all the time. If saving their species is your defence, homosexuality may even be animal instinct. Many species are showing signs of overpopulation.  Humans are a perfect example of this, with our population skyrocketing. Maybe homosexuality is a natural retort to this. This may be one of the only ways to explain why humans have been isolated from each other, but have all developed homosexual urges.

LOL Ethmi whether or not you decide it is "unnatural" to you, doesn't automatically make it wrong. There are plenty of animals that have homosexual tendencies. I'm also pretty sure that we're not "doomed" because we have plenty of heterosexuals in the world AND lots of children that have yet to be adopted. SO, I think we'll be okay.

Also, what a gay person does with their sexuality is really none of your business as long as its between two consenting adults. Gay people are functioning and contributing members of society. Let's treat people as people, shall we?

Funny thing, Black Swans tend to pair up homosexualy in proportionately large numbers. Which increases the entire species chances of survival as two males can raise a baby better than a male and a female (do to being stronger and thus able to defend a larger territory, plus not having that whole period of tire after birth). Ten times as many chicks survive from the male/male pairs as in the male/female pairs.

So are you saying that we should use animals to justify human ethics? I would have said that as humans we are more in control of our destiny and the persuit of our happiness. To the best of my knowledge there are gay animals in the wild. i propose this point, if there were would it make any difference to you? would you then see homosexual relationships as ok? I would suppose that you wouldnt. Male lions kill the cubs of the previous male of the pride. Would that behaviour be acceptable in humans? Natural law is volatile for using in ethical debates. flat and simple, we are all equal. gay and straight. You might not like homosexuality. That doesnt matter, it doesnt give you the right to enforce your views on others. Thats Nazi to the core. I would never debase the idea of loving another to say that it is to procreate with them and to have sex.

is wrong to believe that only dolphins and bonobos, other than humans have sex for pleasure. Most animals cannot understand that by having sex, they will reproduce. It is said that reproduction in animals is a natural instinct. In fact, this natural instinct is pleasure (orgasm). It is possible that species become extinct because they don't see any pleasure in having sex. Species that evolved having the ability to feel orgasm, are those who do it often, and thus reproduce (reproduction not being their primary goal) Like animals in the primate family. They are extremely close to us in the anatomy aspect. So before your go write fake facts. Look it up![color=lime]

There can't be an absolute 'right' to express one's sexuality the way one is driven. Given that some people's sexuality involves murder of others, paedophilia, making love to animals etc., this means that we draw the line somewhere on sexuality - what is permissible and what isn't. That being the case, would you agree that society treating homosexuality now as acceptable when before it wasn't, is not the realisation of some absolute ethical ideal but merely a shifting of the boundaries of what is deemed acceptable?

Pedophilia and making love to animals both involve forcing yourself on something or someone who cannot give informed consent.

Homosexuality, between two consenting adults, is legal in western society, so your analogy falls flat on its face.

And the realisation of an ethical ideal, and the shifting of boundaries are not mutually exclusive. The elimination of slavery, elimination of misagenation laws, and allowing women the vote were all examples of 'shifting morality' in society, but were ALSO steps towards the universal ideal of freedom.

We speak of consenting, unrelated adults who harm no one.

Pedos harm children on every level of their being, and are completely unrelated to the question of human sexuality as it is a psychosis.

Same with murders, same with rapes.

Bestiality is also completely unrelated as well. Animals cannot consent.

Modern science has found that, while the exact foundations of human sexuality are still under investigation, all three major categories of human sexuality, hetero-, bi-, and homosexuality, all share the same foundations, and all are an inherent, natural, and unchangeable aspect of the human race.

Also, human sexuality is not merely sex. While the two are related, they are not the same thing. Please keep that in mind.

there is atleast one picture of a couple of gay white tailed deer on the internet. also on a national geographic video the is an instance of gay sex between two of the elephants. be very careful when you say that a way of acting is unique to humans because you will probably be wrong. also animals have sex for the same reason that humans do, it feels good. they don't typicaly prosses that there actions are preventing their species from going extint. humans are realy no diffrent froim any other mammal with the possible exception that they are a bit more destructive and dangerous than most other mammals.

Because so many people believe that being gay is sinful. And I think many get uncomfortable thinking about homosexuality. As to why that is I think it is just a long lasting cultural value, much like how racism was a long lasting part of American culture. And much like racism, I think homophobia thrives off of ignorance and fear.

actually there are over 450 species of animals in the world that have examples of gay relations. Theres even gay zoos.  I recently read about a pair of gay swans (swans mate for life).  Interestingly of all the different animals mankind was the only one to exhibit symptoms of homophobia, funny that.

I think people need to be more open to the gay community and they should embrace the fact that people from other sexual orientation need to have the right to get maried!
