the book: 50 debates for kids : is good.  Also, there is a book called "Debates:  Today's topic info"  has a lot of info.  These books are good.  Also, you should add in your own position to the debates.  That would be cool, and people who probably look at both sides more.

I think there should be a place to put stupid debates, like what is the best flavor of ice cream, or which is a better letter, q or r?

The problem is, then the site would be biased, therfore destroying the idea of an unbiased place for people to come together and fairly debate. If they want to debate, they could, and may be already, posting under their own, non-admin account.

I suggest:

1. The topis of abstinence only sex education in schools

2. Encouragement of the use of user ratings.

3. An option to rate the poster overall and not just each post alone.

Hey everyone.  Im new here, but this seems like a great idea.  I dont really know how things work, but i was thinking if u made a seperate thread that people could just kinda talk, and not debate, then new people like me could introduce ourselfs and get to know other members better.  i dunno if this is absurd or not, but an off topic section seems like a good idea to me.

I think it would be nice really nice, although possibly impossible, if the user could set it to automaticly return to the index/forum/thread depending on their preference and, if returning to the thread, it would automaticly jump down to the post they just made.

I don't usually insult people in forums, but you are an exception. You are mean.

I honestly, would prefer that what might be simple programming be added so that all of us can be a bit lazier. If it was easy to program, why not?

LoL!  I think what he means is that to make that extra thingy would be practically useless; the back button redirects users to the last page they were on in the exact same place.  And we already have a button that directs us to forum thread or debating page thingy.

I can argue small points to death, and if I must, I will:

After adding a post and landing on the where to go page, the back button on most browsers will take the viewer back to the page without their post added. Then they must click the refresh button, which for some may put it back at the top of the page. For a long topic, it may then be required to scroll down many posts.

Also, if it was atomaticaly redirected to the bottom of the thread just posted in, one could check to see if anyone had posted another post while they were typing theirs. This has happened to me before.

Also, before someone says it. In responce to the issue of the "your message succesful posted" showing: if it shows the page with their message posted, it obivously worked. If it didn't work, then a page could be brought up.

If it was deisgned to always redirect people to the post they just posted, there could be buttons at the bottom of the page to go to the forum or index.

I told you I could! See! See!

School Uniforms are bad because the logo problem won't be solved if we wear school uniforms. Out of school kids will still have to buy other clothes for the weekend. Kids will also wear logos outside of school. The school uniform situation won't be solved because it takes away from the kids induviduallity.   Mike Hunt

I suggest programming the forum pages so that we can read them as they are loading; and not have to wait for the entire page to load before we can start reading it.

I think much of the waiting time is a result of waiting on the avatars to load. Perhaps you could program the page to "appear" after all the text is loaded, then we can go ahead and read while the avatars are loading.

Could we remove topics that are left alone for more than 3 months? I think the "Religion" forum could use a good cleaning out.

For the sake of all to stay current on replys to recent comments they have made you could place a button at the bottom of all pages that would take the reader to a page that would contain the last 100 post. It would reduce peoples time in scrolling through topics to see how people respond to comments.
This option exist on another debate site and it keeps topics hot until they are extinguished.

I think that the Debates Pros & Cons page need to provide good references.  I don't think it's fair that a point can make an unsupported claim.

For  instance, I was reading the debate on gay adoption (http://www.youdebate.com/DEBATES/gay_adoption.HTM), and point 8 stated that "Lesbians and gay men are more likely to molest children."  Point 8.1 contradicted this.  I'd like to see references there.  And, if one point is supported, and the other is not, I don't think the unsupported point should be allowed in the debate.  It's unfair to whichever side has the facts on their side.
