What do y'all think about the "3 Strikes Rule?"

I don't like it. There needs to be some wiggle room. While I agree that repeat offenders deserve longer sentences, 3 strikes is often ridiculously harsh (such as life sentence for the guy who stole $400 of children's videos). Instead, allow the judges more discretion in determining sentencing, and put the sentencing on a sliding scale for the judges to use their own discretion with.

the 3 strikes rule is hogwash. a minor drug offender who has been caught thrice (i love that word) should not have to serve a long long prison sentence.

I agree that judges need more discretion. Three strikes is often far too harsh for a lot of people.
