A good southern man, alright.  I would have to go with a good plain and simple steak and potatos.

grits are soooo good!!  I've never met anybody that likes them.  I love them and I have loved them all my life!!!  I thought grits were popular in (don't get offended by this statement, billy) hick states like ok, tx, places like that.   The ARMY serves the best grits.

But fried okra is my other favorite thing to eat, and nobody I know likes that either.  I could eat fried okra all day long.  I tried making them one time, and I liked it, but my dog wouldn't eat it, so maybe you and me are the only people in the world that likes it??

matzah is that (and i hate matzah, it tastes like cardboard). Matzah BALLS are something totally different, kinda like a dumpling, but obviously w/out pork or other unkosher products. Actually, the matzah ball part isn't what makes it great, its the chicken soup and stew surrounding it....

Madbilly, I could get to like you!  Fired okra, grits, squash, green tomatoes, chicken dumplings...my kind of eating.

The food I remember most from my childhood is Cornbread and milk.  If you're a southerner, you know what I'm talking about!

Damn, I'm hungry!

my favorite foods are: Macaroni and cheese, fried chicken, fried potatoes, boiled potatoes, frog legs (and watching them hop around in the skillet !) black eyed peas are yummy ! cornbread and milk is awesum ! I use a glass for it myself. chicken and dumplings. Grits are good. Madbilly, if you can get to the base at Ft. Sill by Lawton they serve grits in the mornings. Bunch of great vietnamese cooks there. Very delicious with milk butter and sugar mixed in ! Deer meat is awesome, but it can cause constipation. Southerns should know that and sweet tea....who could possibly drink it unsweet? Unsweet tea is disgusting and seriously bitter. BTW I'm from southwestern Tennessee by the Tennessee river and 20 miles from both the Miss. and ala. state lines.
