i actually havent heard them since their first album came out, so cant say about much that.  just know what i heard didnt like, they sounded to much like blink182.  i like older punk, my favorite is probably Rancid.  but my favoritest artist is Les Claypool, and anything he is in.  but i listen to almost everything that aint mainstream.

as a guitarist and a saxophonist, i think jazz is awesome

blink 182 is much more poppy than mxpx. but if all you've heard of mxpx is there singles, then i can understand why you think they are not punk. but most of their songs are not poppy at all.

probably one of my most favorite older punk bands is screeching weasel...but i think we can both agree that the Ramones absolutly rock and are the founders of punk rock

system of a down is great. They are totally unlike anyone else, they have a sound like no other that could not be replicated by anyone else with the same amount of energy. I dont see Jazz coming back bc too many people do not appreciate talent, for instance look at what sells. This new "pop" music is void of real music talent and inspiration. I would like to see jazz make a comeback, i dont like it too much but i respect it bc i believe that the best musicians in the world play jazz and i hold there talent in high regards, jazz might make it to a subpop status but i dont see it hitting mainstream.
