I've been reading this board for 2 days and discovered this site through Google search.  My interest in reading forums came about when I heard on the news about the Intelligent Design Case in Pen State.

I grew up attending church with my family.  I did learned a bit here and there on Evolution in my science class from grade school and up to high school.  As a young student, I was only learning to make my "A"s or "B"s.  I never care to remember much in school once the summer comes.  I never question the Bible eventhough I was expose to evolution science at a young age.

Now, I'm in college and have taken these science classes:
Biology I & II
Human Anatomy and Physiology
Gen Chemistry and Organic Chem
Plant Science
Physics
Anthropology
Geography
Genetics

These classes were the hardest class I have ever taken in my life!   I'm not used to observation, forming hypothesis,  research, thumbing through tedious data, measuring, and learned things from Evidence.  Most of the things I learned at a young age were fed to me without giving me the tool to test out anything!  These science classes open up my mind, and I started to think for myself, do experiments, learning the basics of science in college, and I meant "actually really learning it" for the first time.  The TOE are based on concrete, peer review, scientific researches.  This is the reason why it is taugt in science class.  There are many evidences collected from years and years of scientific work that supports the TOE.  For those of us who thinks TOE is a religion, maybe a couple of science courses will lead you to the truth.  It worked for me!

I don't understand why we need to put "Intelligent Design" into the Science classroom?  Why are we moving backwards?

I've read on the "Discover" magazine that in the '70s North America graduated Engineers and PHDs Scientist more than Asia and Europe.  Now, the trend is the opposite.  Europe and Asia bypass North America and is increasing with the numbers of engineers and scientist graduating with PHDs, and North America is declining dramatically.  We need to move forward with science!

Sorry for my grammar, English is not my first language but I'm trying.  Thank you for reading my post.

congratulations!  you have taken your first step into a larger world.  don't accept tradition as fact, question the norm when in doubt, only base your theories on physical and irrefutable evidence.   and remember that, in an infinite universe, anything is possible.

i hope that someday everyone will be a student of truth.

Nice! That looks like a solid course you've got there - what degree/qualification are you studing for?

Keep up with your studies; Science is fun =)

Thank you for the kind words of encouragement.  I appreciate your advice RoyLennigan and will keep it in mind as I continue with my studies.

mabfynhad, yes I find science is fun also esp, the labs are my favorite!  I'm a premed student and want to study Medicine.  I had to take all these classes b/c it was prerequisite for the Med school.  Thank goodness, b/c I enjoyed the classes so much and have learned much more than I ever did in high school.

Earth is very old ~4.5 billion yrs!  Education has open up my eyes!  My only regrets was not really taking my classes seriously in high school...I could have learn a lot more.  I think they should teach more evolution in the science classes in grade school, middle school, and high school...instead of just touching on it for 1 minute and move on.  I

Again, my thanks for your advices!

Exactly. It's extremely obnoxious to watch Creationists claim the public school systems "jam evolution down their throats," when in fact teachers have become so flatly scared of any controversey that they barely describe it for a single day, if that.
