It appears that Michael Behe's idea of irreducible complexity has taken another hit.

Researchers have presented another example of how complex cellular components can evolve from proteins that originally had a different function in ancestral organisms.  In this case the researchers focused on TIM complex, which transport proteins into the mitochondria - found in eukaryotic cells, but not in bacteria.

The group looked at the bacterium Caulobacter crescentus and found bacterial proteins related to the components of the mitochondrial TIM complex. They then showed that these bacterial proteins are not found as part of protein transport machines.

The gist of the article is that complex components found in the cell are not irreducibly complex.  They evolve from simpler structures and proteins that have entirely different function.

It was a strikeout to start.

Pogge:” This is the volume of a sphere with a 62 kilometer (about 39 miles) radius, which is considerably smaller than the 2,000 mile radius of the Earth.”
Wikipedia:” For Earth, the mean radius is 6,371.009 km(≈3,958.761 mi; ≈3,440.069 nmi).”
Wisp to Lester (on Pogge): Do you admit he was wrong about the basics?
Lester: No
