We are doing a debate in our Language Arts class! We are against school uniforms. Please vote in our poll!!!! We think uniforms take away our freedom of who we are as a person!!! Teachers always tell us to be different, but how can we be different if we're all dressed the same?!?!

School uniforms has the same purpose as military uniforms to strip people of their individuality some very good examples of the bad idea this is. the 1930 germany school uniforms where mandatory BAAAD Idea and the U.K. the last couple of centuries Another very bad idea many british youngster have a hard time finding out who they really are

yes, student should wear uniform, but only for special occasions. and in normal day, they ought to have the freedom to wear what they like. of course you can wear uniform but only if you want to. please don't take away their freedom of dressing.[color=blue]

School uniforms must never be mandatory. Every student has a right to individuality. By enforcing a dress code and school uniforms, the school administration is trying to "normalize" students. That how the US military and Nazis control people so easily. Everyone must a right to be themselves, including the way they dress.

Uniforms promote equality and acceptance and the fact that your religion (raelian) promotes individualism is an admirable trait that is missing in our culture. But unless all people in the world simultaneously, by Rael's definition, "be" or "have"; individualists will be ostracized and eventually feel the need to conform.

A lot of people consider wearing uniforms to be like dressing up to go to work.  The uniform is to the classroom as the suit and tie are to the conference room.  School is the students profession so they ought to respect it.  You don't see men or women walking into the office in a t-shirt.More info

Not all schools are the same.  Downtown New york you are likely to get shoot by wereing the wrong color.  Then you go to someplace like the middle of utah and find the biggest problem in school to be truancy or tardieness.(which is kinda funny because that is what my major concrens are for my school right now.)  The Moral to the story is; are you going to sacrifice yourself in a gang shooting by wearing a color or are you going to conform and wear a uniform.  Not all places need them, take utah, idaho, kansas, nebraska, its so rural that only 20-30 students might attend so there would be less controversy because everyone knows each other.  It all depends on circimstances.  Saftey over indivduality, pick one.

public school students should be given school uniforms so that there will be equality on how people look at them. the gap between the high class, the middle classs and the lower class can atleast be lessened because students' appearance wouldn't matter at all because they are all wearing the same thing.

when it comes to individuality, i don't think that its the clothes you put on your body would actually make a BIG difference on your personality. i mean, if this is you, no matter what you wear, it is still you. well, that is if you really have your sense of individuality.

i honestly think that those people who think that the clothes they wear will show WHO-THEY-ARE are the people who cannot build their own identity. it's like they build a facade that will tell people who they want to be known as and not to be who they really are.

Well some people are shy and don't like to talk to people so the clothes they wear send a message about their personality. Also who cares if rich people wear uniforms. We all know that the kids are probably hating it. and if you are worried about the gap between the classes why don't the higher class get rid of their uniforms instead of forcing other people to wear uniforms.
