according to 20/20 we have more trees today than in 1922. if that is the case than why are we worried about deforestation? It is not in the loggers best interest not to replant since when all of the trees are gone they would out of business.

Personally, I think  trees add beauty to our world.  We are living in times where new homes and shopping centers are popping up everywhere, and are taking away from the natural beauty that trees and nature provide.

The beauty part would be a matter of opinion. I do find trees to be beautiful. My point is that we are not loosing trees. Also before you can tell others that they can not build shopping centers you would have to be willing to give up the one near your house.

You mean, according to 20/20, we have more trees in some unsaid particular area?  Or that a sapling counts the same as a 200 ft tall sequoia?

planted trees in America. Partly because the logging companies know that in order for them to continue logging, they must replant. They have also developed new logging devices that do not disturb the forest as much. some you would never even know that they were there if it weren't for the occasional stump.

the problem with replanting is that the "forest' you end up with that way has about the same resemblance to the ecosystem that existed before planting, as a carrot patch has to virgin prairie.
