RE: Federal Minimum Wage Legislation

It would be more logical to leave minimum wage as is.

BUT . . .

The better option may be to give companies a $500.00 Federal Rebate for every time they give an existing employee at least $1.00 an hour raise. These rebates could be collected quarterly on the same employee as long as they get another $1.00 an hour for each rebate. Just so you know - $500.00 is equivalent to 1/4 of that dollars value for that one single year.

How Is This Good?

1) It allows a fair wage to pay kids on summer jobs.

2) It allows for a reasonable wage to teach someone a new semi-skilled position.

3) It will encourage companies to pay better wages to good employee's.

4) It would make employees be a bit more willing to apply themselves to earn more money.

In a nut shell - this would make the economy start rolling - more money always means more spending by those who get the better wage - which in return creates more tax revenue that can be applied to the next Federal Rebate.

In the mean time everyone is making more money as they improve the quality of products and services.

Imagine going to a fast food place and get your order right most of the time - wouldn't that be nice?

I think that there should be no money at all.  We should revert to communism.  But on sides...

I think minimal wage is a good idea.  People are ussually lazy, and do less work.  I also believe that anyone who works over should get a raise.  They would be able to get the pay.  Minimal wage creates a less detrimental enviroment, especially for the boss.

Its is business, and the business of business is to make MONEY.  So don't hate the bosses for paying minimum wages, people are taking the jobs aren't they?

People hate their boss because they are 'underpayed'. If everyone as underpayed, then no one would think they were.

Holly smokes?  Do you really belive that.  Communism failed for the reason you just stated.  Everyone under communism became lazy.

Not to mention the terror and brutality you need to force people to "share" and "be alike" and "think alike" so that everyone can really be equal.  It is illogical to think the a lazy person will try to work hard to be equal to his neighbors who are not lazy when he is given all the comfort his neighbors have.

I forgot to mention something. We should follow what God and John Smith said- "If you don't work you don't eat."

Minimum Wage:
Minimum: The lowest amount allowable.
Wage: A sum of money given to people for WORKING!
This is not minimum welfare. It is guarenteeing that if you DO work, you CAN eat.

I think that your payrates should be based on the work that you perform. And whats up with that crap???? the more you work the more you pay uncle Sam.... that is Bull S***. I think that O.T. should be tax free. Cause some times you live a better life by staying home and doing nothing.

Minimum wage should be abolished.  Wages are a private agreement between employer and employee.  Government has no place getting involved.

Minimum wage increase is bad for two reasons:

#1.  Some people on minimum wage (please notice I didn't say ALL) get comfortable at minimum wage and know it's only a matter of time before the government will grant them a raise (as well as more welfare checks etc)...BAD

#2.  Those that are at minimum wage when an increase is passed are guaranteed a raise while those that make more than mw have no such guarantee.  WalMart, All grocery stores, convenient stores, fast food restaurants, and all such stores must raise their prices to accomadate their increase in wage expenses.   Those that are above minimum wage that don't get a guaranteed raise are now paying more for groceries, necessary household items, and gas.  As a result, everyone who has bettered themselves to not be at minimum wage are now paying the penalty for a minimum wage increase...VERY BAD!!

Min. wage used to be based on inflation. If that was the case now, the MW would be atleast 7.50. You can tell our economy is suffering when the minwage is bellow living expeces for a decade.

NO!

Pay is based on a person's value to the employer. Supply and demand. If you are working for minimum wage, you are worth that. Or less.

Get a real job or go into business for yourself and quit complaining.

It amazes me sometimes the way people think about money. Look at it from cold hard numbers. Even if the minimum wage was $7.50 an hour assuming you worked 40 hours a week (get out your calculators guys) that equals $300.00 per week or $15,600.00 per year, BEFORE taxes. At that earning level your federal tax rate is 15% check here is you dont believe me http://taxes.yahoo.com/rates.html

take your $300.00 per week and deduct 15% (thats 300 x .85) that leaves you with $255.00 per week or $1020.00 per month.

Assume that you get lucky and find an affordable place to live with rent that isn't out of control lets say $750.00 a month (and good luck finding that) that leaves you with $270.00 per month or $67.50  a week for food, gas for your car (and have you seen the prices at the pump lately).

Instead of saying no to the raise in minimum wage, explain to me how someone is supposed to live on the numbers I just gave you?
