If you were a home invader, who would you back down from?  A pacifist liberal weakling who refuses to own guns (like Forfunt1), or a guy who's pointing a gun at you and is about ten yards away?

Sorry to break it to you, but there are plenty of liberals who own guns and plenty of conservatives who won't go near them. Generalizations make your arguments worthless.

I do agree with stunk pirate, I however would not be committing a home invasion unless I had the M249.

Ethmi, I have not read single post you made that is effective. How many people with gun,s would have the guts to shot someone anyway?

Everyone says expect the unexpected, but since now everyone expects the unexpected, the unexpected is now the expected and the expected is the unexpected. So if you are expecting the unexpected, you are actually expecting the expected, so if you start expecting the expected, you will be expecting the unexpected. So everyone should start expecting the expected again and the expected will be expected and the unexpected will be unexpected again, then we can start expecting the unexpected again.

Dude seriously? I know liberals, being one myself, who could wipe the pavement with your blood in seconds, don't stereotype them as the pacifist, tree hugging, weak hippies most ignorant people do. That's kind of like saying ever conservative is a rich, white, gun tooting, ignorant, warmonger. Don't bunch everyone into a single group and define them by inaccurate stereotypes.

Aside from that, if I was a home invader, I'd be packing as well. Probably a semi or automatic. Now that's not to say that a dude would run away from the guy if he had a gat. Honestly, if I saw that the guy was packing as well I'd ice him and then jack his heat.

It is not a mere matter of 'guts'.  I think most would shoot out of fear.  "The guts to shoot someone" sounds a little indicative of ill-intent.  In regards to shots fired in self-defense, ask the shooter if he/she felt brave, or gutsy.  Invariably, the answer will be no.  They would probably say something to the effect of: "Brave?  Are you kidding?  I was scared for my life..."  Not to mention the countless instances where the presence of a gun alone has stopped the commencement of a crime without having to fire a shot.
