You can rent full auto guns at certain gun ranges. What's the big deal? That is just a scheme to avoid campaign donation laws.

I read in the article that participants were allowed to shoot automatic weapons at the event, NOT to rent them.  There is no safety or responsibility question in allowing people to fire an automatic weapon in a controlled environment, as there would be in allowing people to rent them for outside use.

The problem is that Holly Wood Make autos look bad. They take a gun that runs out of ammo in 2 seconds and makes the fire for minutes with out stopping. In movies they will fire about 100 to 200 rounds with out reloading.

Love it! It's a unique idea for a fund raiser, and just sounds like a blast altogether. I've never fired an auto before, but I hope to get the chance one day. Definitely a positive thing!

Every time I see a story like this from an anti-gun blogger, most of the reader comments tend to favor less restriction. Am I way off base in that regard?

I'm in fact Chairman of the Hanson Rod and Gun  machine gun committee and we have an anual shoot on memorial day week end.

Heres a link to some clips. http://www.youtube.com/Trigger51B

I am not surprised that you admit to being the chairman of the Hanson Rod and Gun club committee. From the way you write about guns, the fact of your affiliation with this evil organization seems reasonable to expect. You are making the world a better place to die in by encouraging that firearms are acceptable in society. If I ever meet you, perhaps at an H. R. & G. meeting, I gladly will speak out, telling you without any fear that you are doing harm to the world, and that you should be ashamed of yourself. Let me guess: You own guns because you are afraid of how society will treat you without the "protection" of your weapons... You feel threatened because you are a selfish person, so you hide... just like a corrupt numb-dumb-ass cop, you hide your ignorance of the law behind a firearm... Aren't you ashamed of yourself? If we ever do meet, you'll be the yuppie american with the gun, and I'll be the dead kid that dared to keep it real.

Actually this evil organization donates thousands to the shiners burn center with the event we sponsor every year. Actually I’m making it a better place to survive in.

If I ever meet you, perhaps at an H. R. & G. meeting, I gladly will speak out, telling you without any fear that you are doing harm to the world, and that you should be ashamed of yourself.

The only ones doing harm to the world is governments to the tune of 100's of millions killed just in the last century and who knows how many it will be this century.

Let me guess: You own guns because you are afraid of how society will treat you without the "protection" of your weapons...

Nope I don't want my family to be just another statistic at the hands of a violent criminal or tyrannical government.

You feel threatened because you are a selfish person, so you hide... just like a corrupt numb-dumb-ass cop, you hide your ignorance of the law behind a firearm...

Actually I'm not selfish at all I donate some of my time to work with the scouts, stop, and do  fishing derbies with the kids. Actually I have a very good understanding of the law.

Aren't you ashamed of yourself? If we ever do meet, you'll be the yuppie american with the gun, and I'll be the dead kid that dared to keep it real.(Edited by admin 1/6/2008 at 06:45 AM).

Not really, since I'm not a yuppie and unless you are violent criminal predator threatening to kill or harm some innocent person you are safe . You have nothing to fear from me. You see unlike you I don't hate, I don't let my emotions control me. You sir are a bigot you hate Americans and gun owners and are intolerant of others who do not subscribe to your point of view. I don't know how anyone can hate anybody or group with whom they have never  even met. You are no different than those in the Klu Klux Klan, skinheads or the NAZIS. I feel sorry for you, to go through life filled with so much hate. I hope some how you will realize how Unhealthy this is and will seek help. I will pray for you. TRIGGER

You don't win debates by hurling insults; this only shows a lack of character and an ignorance of the issue. You see these debates are not for you they are for those who look at these debates and don't post. I am not debating to change your mind, your mind is already made up and nothing I say no matter how profound it is will change it. If the audience sees someone who doesn’t counter a point made by his opponent and or just hurls insults or becomes argumentative they will be turned off to their point of view and or opinion. I would much rather have a real debate with you instead of this childish jousting. But so be it.
