What would you have done?

Last month a felon with a 14 page rap sheet was shot early morning by an armed citizen.  The felon was shot in the bedroom of the citizens 2 year old son.  The citizen worked two jobs to make ends meet, on this morning he called in sick.  Just by luck he was there to defend his family.  At present the New York police has booked him for shooting the felon, charges are still pending from the district attorney.

Another example that gun control is not about crime or about public saftey, it is about control and power.

That is such BS. If some criminal was in my house, I'd do the same thing! You got a link or anything for us to read up on the story?

Sorry, no link.  It was a TV article.  In all fairness felon was shot with an illegal handgun.  It was illegal because it was not registered in New York.

The father had just moved to New York City.  He purchased the handgun in Flordia.  He was in the process of registering the firearm, but because of the slow registration process, it was not yet on New York books.

I belive the DA is purposely not dropping the case just to punish him with a conviction hanging over his head.  The DA has been contacted several times to clear the matter as quick as possible.  The DA over the last month has made no attempt to contact the father, other than letting him know they are planning to prosecute.

Try searching for Ron Dixon from Canarsie section of Brooklyn New York.  I've only seen it in two places: On TV and the NRA website.

I'd like to see more opinions on it.  Strange that it is not being covered at all by any newspapers?

It's illogical to assume that gun control is not about crime and public safety on the basis of only one incident. Talk about jumping to conclusions. In this case, a criminal was shot, but what about all the times that an innocent person gets shot by a family member in their own home?

Of Course You cant use just a single incedent to decide the debate on gun control lets look at how well it is working in our mother country the U.K.
Firearm offences:
1997: 12,410
2001: 17,589
lets see up 5,179 or 41.7%
See Gun Control really does work, for criminals.
Dont Beleive me look it up

The above post was mine.  By they way If I was just to read this and not know where it took place I would think that it was in the U.K. What are we comming to here, so sad when you get in trouble for just defending your family.  I think that the person responcible for these charges should be shot himself.  I hope that he is barred from public office after such an incedent and as for the man who shot the intruder, I hope he sues NYC dry for this, this is the absolute opposite of justice, that criminal forfeited his right to live when he entrered that house illeagly and obviously to do harm, really how many valubles would you keep in a 2 year olds room except for the most valuble thing you have, your child.  Whatever happened to Justice for All.
